Sowore Confronts Malami: “Now You Face the Same Broken System”

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has publicly criticised former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, stating that he is now experiencing the same judicial challenges he once defended while in office.

The confrontation occurred on Monday at the Federal High Court, where Malami appeared amid ongoing legal proceedings.

In a video that has since circulated online, Sowore addressed the former AGF directly, accusing him of dismissing earlier criticisms of Nigeria’s justice system during his tenure under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Sowore, Malami had previously defended the system despite warnings about its shortcomings.

“You see how it feels now to be persecuted. When you were with Buhari, you were bragging. We warned you then that there was failure in the justice system, but you didn’t listen, and now the system is dealing with you,” Sowore said.

He reiterated his long-standing position that the country’s justice system is fundamentally flawed, suggesting that recent developments involving Malami underscore those concerns.

As of the time of filing this report, Malami had not publicly responded to the remarks.
